| Fishing is the prime industry in the city and
is infact largely responsible for the economic boost enjoyed by the city
today. Coming a close second to Navotas daily fish landing volume, the city's
fishport ranks first in terms of high value fish. The city has now over
50 commercial fishing companies landing, a collective volume of 8,000 metric
tons of sashimi grade tuna per month. |

| The city proudly ships tuna to many foreign
countries and also to leading hotels in Metro Manila. Due to the large volume
of daily catch, canning became the leading supporter in exporting this prime
product. |

| This city is home to seven (7) out of the nine
(9) Tuna Processing & Canning Factories all over the Philippines. It
has combined canning capacity of 570 metric tons a day. Recently, 60% of
the total labor force in GenSan as into this industry. Most of them are
either in direct fishing and the bulk is dispatched in seven tuna canning
companies all over the city. |

| During those times until today, the fishing
& canning industries flourished dramatically. It its entirety, GenSan
then became the Tuna Capital of the Philippines. The city merely fortifies
its tangible strength through showcasing the ocean's bounty. |
