General Santos City is now on the verge of the preparation for the upcoming 4th Gensan Tuna Festival 2002. The General Santos City Chamber of Commerce and Industry with its Acting President , Manuel Yaphockun, was tasked to handle this year's festival.

As a sign of unity and responsive to the city's undertakings, several non- government individuals and energetic Gensan constituents were assigned in the various committees to handle the various events.

The 4th General Santos City Tuna Festival 2002 is set on September 1-5, 2002 and an event we are all looking forward to.

The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) together with the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) visited General Santos City on June 24, 2002 to present to the Generals (people of the General Santos City) the "City Competitiveness Ranking 2002 Results".

Of the seven (7) major drivers used by AIM & DTI to gauge the cities' competitiveness, General Santos City topped in the five (5) drivers. According to Professor Jose Jesus Roces of the AIM, " General Santos City is the best place to do business and the best place to live in".

Mayor Pedro B. Acharon, Jr. thanked the AIM for their worthwhile project, which can be of great help to local LGUs in their governance. The results can also aid in identifying the weaknesses for the city to improve, as well as the strengths, for the city to enhance and even sustain, for future decisions and developmental initiatives.

The Honorable Mayor also thanked the Generals for their presence and their support, because it was actually the residents of the city that were asked during AIM's survey, not the government officials.

The Official General Santos City Website was launched last June 25, 2002 at the City Hall Lobby. All sectors of the city invited to grace the occasion especially those directly involve in the wide world of the internet.

Test surfing of the said website was formally opened by no less than the Honorable City mayor, Pedro B. Acharon, Jr. Several Units of computers were displayed at the lobby for everybody to see, watch and test the new website.
