THE
PRESENTATION OF THE CITY COMPETITIVENESS RANKING PROJECT 2002
The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) together with the Department
of Trade & Industry (DTI) visited General Santos City on June 24, 2002
to present to the Generals (people of the General Santos City) the "City
Competitiveness Ranking 2002 Results".
Of the seven (7) major drivers used by AIM & DTI to gauge the cities'
competitiveness, General Santos City topped in the five (5) drivers. According
to Professor Jose Jesus Roces of the AIM, " General Santos City is the
best place to do business and the best place to live in".
Mayor Pedro B. Acharon, Jr. thanked the AIM for their worthwhile project,
which can be of great help to local LGUs in their governance. The results
can also aid in identifying the weaknesses for the city to improve, as
well as the strengths, for the city to enhance and even sustain, for future
decisions and developmental initiatives.
The Honorable Mayor also thanked the Generals for their presence and
their support, because it was actually the residents of the city that
were asked during AIM's survey, not the government officials.
